East Community Park Phase II - 2025 to 2026
The construction of East Community Park started with Phase I back in the early 2000’s. Located off Pilot Knob Road, this park is a nature lovers destination right in your back yard! East Community Park provides fishing opportunities, scenic recreational trails, tennis and basketball courts and field space for a variety of youth organizations. The Phase II construction of this park would provide expanded recreational opportunities for park users of all ages and interests:
- The addition of a canoe/kayak boarding dock and canoe racks for those looking to explore East Lake
- North Creek Regional Greenway Trailhead which will include restroom facilities, an informational kiosk and bike fix-it station for trail users as well as trail additions
- Installation of prairie pollination gardens, nature play areas and improved overlooks
- Construction of shoreline fishing areas
The completion of East Community Park would complement its natural beauty while also providing more recreational amenities for the community.
The estimated cost of the proposed expansion totals $2.674 million and construction would begin in 2025. Based on the results of the community survey, the Heritage Landing concept was overall the more popular concept. Staff will work with the consultant team on a final design and specifications. The project is anticipated to go out for bid in early 2026 with construction occurring the same year.
